Winter hibernation The well documented climate changes ... are they now showing a glimpse of what's to come?
A long, very cold and extremely snowy winter has finally been laid to rest ... at long last! The general feeling being that it really sucked out all energy that was stored from last summer.
People have been bleak, tired and almost in a state of "mild hibernation", and no wonder!
I declared spring as soon as the ice melted from the seas, and that wasn't too long ago, I am sad to say ... but now at last something to look forward to unless a certain "Katla" erupts into activity.
Spring is here, long live spring! Well it is high time to cast off the shackles of winter, hide away those heavy clothes, mittens and caps and on with something more colourful.
The year is full of interesting activities and sometimes it was a case of picking out the cherries from the cake.
The year started with a magnificent spring ball at the Nyckelviken Mansion in March, followed a few weeks later with a part in a film production (documentary).
Zaragoza 1710 In May, unless something extraordinary happens, we will be setting on the long road-journey down to the city of Zaragoza, to take part in the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Saragossa. I look immensely forward to taking part in this colourful event in a country I thus far have not visited(!). Yes, it is almost hard to believe as most people have visited the sunny reaches of Spain ... not me!
Across western Europe The journey will take us in express through the Germany courtesy of the Autobahns, thence to Belfort, first stop, on to Sorede, close to the Spanish border, through the fabled city of Barcelona and finally on to Zaragoza.
It will be a great thrill to make new acquaintances in Spain, friends from Facebook et al!
After the Spanish events it is an equally arduous journey back home, this time along the Atlantic coast of France. First stop at Arcachon ... on to Luxembourg and meet an old WAYN/Facebook friend, Marcel, and have a break from the driving. Hopefully we will be able to stop at Chambord on the way up to Luxembourg, that would be magic!
...
When home again, we all hope that summer has also reached these northernly regions, lighting the nature up in all shades of green, blossom ...
Baltic beauty In July there will be a multi-event in the Latvian capital of Riga ... something already dotted in the calendar!
